Linden - Mrs M Josephine Irons, 80 lifelong resident of the Linden area, died at 7 a.m. Monday at a nursing home in Clarks Hill. She had been ill for several years and seriously ill for about a month. Born in Montgomery County March 2, 1888, Mrs Irons was the daughter of Martin Z and Laura Newkirk McBee. She was a graduate of Linden High School. She married James B Irons in April of 1914.  He preceded her in death in August of 1958. She was a member of the Linden-Kirkpartrck Methodist Church. Mrs Irons taught school for several years at the former Sugar Creek, Bowers and Cottage Grove schools. She also was preceded in death by two infant sisters. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs Lois Spitnagel of Linden and Miss Harriette Irons of Ft. Wayne,; two sisters, Mrs Debbie Campbell and Mrs W A Turnipseed, both of Darlington; two brothers, Frank McBee and William J McBee, both of Linden; two granddaughters, a great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Helms funeral Chapel in Linden. Rev Dale Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in Linden Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Tuesday. -- kbz
